Against the current

Rubric: Worship

Many times we like to swim or relax at the river. We see that every river has a current.
It is very easy to swim with the current but very hard to swim against the current. The world also has its own
current. The world has a current of alcohol, abortion, unfaithfulness, violence, drugs, disobedience,
rebelliousness.
All people who left a mark in their life, were going against the current. One of them was Harriet Tubman,
she was called Moses of her people. She was a slave who ran away from slavery, but she came back and made 19
trips to help other slaves get out. Another person who was going against the current is Lester Sumrall.
Lester Sumrall wanted to preach to people all around the world but he only had $12.
Pastor from one of the biggest churches in US told him he would die on his trip because he had no
money. Lester Surmall said “than on my grave write Lester Surmall trusted God and died of starvation.” The pastor told him
him he would not send him that grave stone. Lester Surmall went on to preach anyway with only $12 in his pocket. 3 years
later he ran into the pastor. Pastor told how sorry he was because God had done so many miracles through Lester in lives and he led so many people to Christ on his trip.

2 Things that will help us go against the current

1) WORSHIP.
But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. (John 4:23 NKJV)
Jack Hayford once said ” we are a transformed in the image we worship”. Many people think worship is just for
religious people or musicians but worship is for everyone. When Jesus was talking about worship he told the woman
who had 5 husbands and a bad reputation to worship because she had a humble heart. Worship and praise are the key to open
the heaven to solve our problems. They should always come first. One man had a daughter who was very sick and died. No one
could help her so he came to Jesus and started worshiping him. Right after that moment his daughter was resurrected from
the dead. Worship should always come first.

2) FAITH.
When Jesus heard  it,  He marveled, and said to those who followed, “Assuredly, I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel! (Matthew 8:10 NKJV)
Jesus is looking for faith. So many people are religious and have a lot of knowledge but very little faith.
The longest distance is from the mind to the heart. Jesus was looking for faith when he was on the earth and he is still
looking for faith now because faith honors him and he honors faith. God can do nothing without faith but he can do
everything for those who believe. When Job lost everything the one thing that was lest was faith, and that was enough to
restore everything in his life.
